Sub-Project Introduction
1.Road Bani - Dhagger is located in Kathua district of Jammu and Kashmir state. The project road starts from town of Bani, initially travels South along Sewa River and then turns West and goes along Dhagger Nallah. Dhagger is an important village located in middle of area West of Bani. Bani itself is located in beautiful Sewa Valley, on both sides of the river. Bani is approachable from Basohli, which is an important town of Kathua District. Basohli – Bani road, 86 kms in length, is maintained by BRO and is in the process of being widened to double lane specifications. From Bani, the road proceeds to Sarthal and Chhatar Gali. The road beyond Bani- Dhagger is proposed to link it to Bhadarwah and Doda and to Road Batote – Kishtwar (NH 1B) and hence, is an important communication link connecting Kathua District with Doda District. This road will open up many interior areas and is also being projected as an alternative highway to Kashmir Valley from Pathankot via Dhar, Basohli, Bani, Bhadarwah, Doda, Kishtwar, Sinthan Pass and Anantnag.
2. On Southern side, Basohli is connected to Dhar – Udhampur Road near Mohanpur and Pathankot – Jammu – Srinagar Road (NH-1A) near Lakhanpur. The Basohli is therefore, accessible from both Udhampur and Pathankot sides by a motorable road running along Ranjit Sagar.
3. Bani is one of the tehsil HQ of Kathua District and is commercial centre for the areas around it.
