Sidhra-Surinsar-Mansar is located in Jammu District taking off from NH-1A-Jammu Bye-pass at Km 15.20 and meets Samba-Battal road near Mansar at KM 21.29.National Highway 1A connects Pathankot with Srinagar via Jammu, Udhampur, Patni Top, Batote, Anantnag and Awantipora.The total distance from Pathankot to Srinagar is 402 kms. National Highway 1-A is at present a two-lane road and is being maintained by the Border Roads Organisation Road Sidhra-Surinsar-Mansar has considerable tourist attraction potential. There are beautiful lakes existing in Surinsar and Mansar villages. The potential of these lakes has not been exploited for tourism purposes so far. Moreover, the development of Surinsar can easily attract the pilgrims visiting the world famous Mata Vaishno Devi shrine. The development of this road will make it an important part of Samba-Mansar –Sidhra bye-pass and will attract a lot of tourist interest because of its natural beauty. The existing road is (38 kms + 2.5 Km Bye Pass)40.5 Kms long with the distance from Sidhra to Surinsar being 24 kms and Surinsar to Mansar being 14 kms unpaved. The entire stretch of the road is single-lane presently. In most of the stretches the road is having a gradient of 5% to 6%.As most of the terrain is hilly having sharp curves, hence curve improvement within ROW has to be undertaken. |
