Dear Sir
This is concerning the incomplete, unmarked, uncovered and unattended deep
drainages in Shah Anwar Colony, Hyderpora By-Pass, Srinagar (J&K), being
developed by your agency and the serious health risks posed by these to the
people in the area and their normal lives.
We, the inhabitants of the said colony, have been suffering from untold
miseries since the last three years owing to the highly unprofessional work
being carried out in the development of deep drainages in the above
mentioned area under the ADB's loan project.
Having exhausted all our persuasive options with the concerned contractor
and your department from time to time to complete the drainage work in the
area, we are left with no option other than seeking legal remedies and
claiming of damages. *We do understand and acknowledge the operational
constraints posed by the current unrest, however, we also believe that there
have been ample opportunities in the form of normal working days on which
the work could either have been completed or culminated in a manner so as
not to put the lives of the people in the area to risk.*

We, therefore, expect the incomplete work on the drainages be completed or
culminated in a manner that normal traffic on these roads is restored and
safety of the citizens is ensured in the next ten days, failing which we
shall be very saddened in taking legal action against your agency and claim
of damages.
