To augment the water supply system work is in progress on various water supply subprojects
Jammu 16,2009: To augment the water supply system work is in progress on various water supply subprojects in various parts of Jammu city. These projects are executed by Economic Reconstruction agency under the financial assistance of Asian Development Bank.
These projects include replacement of worn out pipes for leak proof delivery system, laying of new rising and distribution mains for adequate water delivery , construction of Over Head Tanks and Ground Level Service Reservoirs for storage of water.
The projects are expected to benefit a huge populace of Jammu city and will help in great way to overcome the water shortage problem . With the commissioning of 52 tube wells in Jammu city about 26MGD of potable water supply will be made available to the population of 8,86,000 souls whileas 41 Over Head Tanks and 19 Groud Level Service Reservoirs with a cumulative storage capacity of 106 lac gallons will cater to the water supply requirements of the population of about 10,60,000 souls of Jammu city.
The various areas which will get benefited include: Shastri Nagar,Channi Himmat, Rail Head , Trikuta Nagar , Gandhi Ngar, Balmiki Ngagar, ,Sainik Colony Sector A/C/D/G /F ,Ambika Vihar, Thangar, Old Bandhurukh ,Greater Kailash Near Per Baba, Ajeet Nagar, Dashmesh Nagar, Workshop Kunjwani,Babliana, Parade, Ram Mandir,Rahari, Rani Park, Bakhshi Nagar,Id Gah, Roop Nagar, Stage-II ,StageIII, Trikuta Nagar, Boria Pumping station PHE Complex Narwal etc.
Director Urban ERA Mr. O.P Dubey said that subprojects under execution are aimed to provide adequate water supply and solicits cooperation of general masses in this endeavor.
