Subject Chief Minister, J&K Inaugurates- State of Art 160 bed additional Orthopaedic block at Bone & Joint Hospital
Rs 140 Cr. a vital health sector project completed under World Bank funded JTFRP
Hon’ble, Chief Minister of J&K, Jenab Omar Abdullah today inaugurated the State of Art 160 bed additional orthopaedic block at Bone and Joint Hospital, Barzulla, Srinagar which is one of the major health sector projects constructed under the World Bank funded Jhelum Tawi Flood Recovery Project executed by Jammu and Kashmir Economic Reconstruction Agency at a cost of Rs 140 crore.
The Rs 140 crore State of Art Health facility has been completed as part of the component construction of critical infrastructure of the World Bank funded JTFRP.
The advanced hospital building it was told has been built using the best in class hospital architectural design and is equipped with the latest medical equipments to provide the best in class orthopaedic treatment to the patients.
The new hospital building has been built using modern earthquake resilient technology of VSD (viscous wall dampers) and has state of art modular operation theatres with laminar flow system, TSSU (Theatre Sterile Supply Unit), ICU, 12 bedded Pre & Post Operation care wards , CSSD (Central Sterile Supply Department), specialized laundry, pneumatic tube system and waste collection system . The building has IGBC (India Green Building Council) certification; biomedical waste management facility .The bio-medical system designed will cater to the bio-medical generation of 140 kgs/day which will be disposed off using the latest scientific.
The hospital is the first health care facility in the J&K that has been equipped with the latest pneumatic tube system to provide for transfer of biomedical samples of patients in the totally sterile and infection free environment. The building has also been provided with the multilayered electrical power backup for emergencies
Furthermore the building has been structurally designed with sufficient wall insulation, buffer spaces on the exposed walls for reduced energy consumption, skylights, solariums (stress relieving spaces) , healing gardens/ terrace for enhanced patient care.
Chief Minister was later shown the various sections of the hospital which included the Modular Operation theatres that have been equipped with latest cutting edge medical equipments like latest Anesthesia workstations, C-arm, latest motorized beds, motorized operation theatre beds etc to undertake the complicated orthopaedic surgeries.
He also visited the physiotherapy wards, radiology wards, general wards, private rooms , high dependency wards, Oxygen manifold unit, canteen and faculty rooms of the building.
Mr. Surinder Kumar Chowdhary, Hon’ble Deputy Chief Minister of J&K, Ms. Sakina Itoo, Hon’ble Minister for Health and Medical education, Advisor to Chief Minister Mr. Nasir Aslam Wani, Mr Ahsan Pardesi Hon’ble MLA, Amirakadal, Mr. Tanvir Sadiq, Hon’ble MLA, Zadibal, Mr Salman Sagar, Hon’ble MLA, Hazratbal and several legislators, Shri Abid Rasheed, Secretary Health and Medical education, Ms. Shreya Shinghal, Chief Executive Officer, JKERA, and senior officers of H&ME, R&B were also present on the occasion.
