Subject Work strictly monitored to ensure Quality control
J&K ERA spending Rs 21.72 crores on upgradation of Natipora-Chadoora Charier-sharief road.
Jammu and Kashmir Economic Reconstruction Agency is spending Rs 21.72 crores on upgradation and improvement of Natipora-Chadoora Charier-sharief road. The road project has been taken up by ERA under its ongoing Asian Development Bank (ADB) funded Multisector Infrastructure Rehablitation Project (MIRP).
The project is an integrated road up gradation project and involves making of retaining walls, breast walls,construction of culverts, traffic signage’s, construction of road drainage.The agency has already achieved progress of 90-95% on construction of road drainage and allied works..The widening has been completed for 23 Kms out of 24 Kms of total road length.The black topped base course has been laid for 9.47 kms and black topping for remaining portion will be taken up during coming working season.
The road project also involves the construction of two bridges on the 24 km road length one at Wathoora and another one at Kakaw ring .Work on Wathoora bridge is already underway in full swing.The old dilapidated bridge at Wathoora bridge was dismantled only after a separate diversion road duly black topped from Donipawa to Chadoora was made available to ensure that locals don’t suffer during construction of the bridge. In addition foot bridge has been provided adjacent to the old bridge for the facility of pedestrians and school going children. The work on new RCC Bridge is under way and is likely to be completed by December 2011. The work on the project is strictly being monitored by various construction experts which include material and pavement experts to ensure that no compromise is made on quality of work. Besides periodic tests are conducted to keep a strict vigil on quality control.
