Chief Minister reviews ERA
Chief Minister of J&K State, Jenab Mufti Mohammed Syed who is also Chairman ERA today reviewed the functioning of ERA along with Dr Nirmal Singh Hon’ble Deputy Chief Minister of J&K State.
Principal Secretary Planning / CEO ERA, Shri BR Sharma made a presentation on the progress of different works being executed by J&K ERA and also briefed about proposed projects to be taken up in future under ADB financing.
During the meeting CEO, J&K ERA informed that so far ERA has availed two loans from Asian Development Bank (ADB) namely Multi-Sector Project for Infrastructure Rehabilitation in Jammu & Kashmir (MPIRJK) and Jammu and Kashmir Urban Sector Development Investment Programme (JKUSDIP). He said under MPIR, the amount of Rs 1714 crores have been spent on 117 sub-projects which included construction of 572 kms of road length under 75 roads sub-projects, 24 bridges , 34 tube wells and 432 kms of water supply pipeline which generated additional 115 million gallons of water in Jammu and Srinagar cities and besides construction of 133 kms of drainage network in the two cities.
It was further informed that under JKSUDIP- a multi -tranche financing facility having three tranches with the loan size of Rs. 1769 crores. It covers 31 subprojects, out of which 4 sub-projects stand completed and 27 are under execution and are likely to be completed by December 2016. Some mega projects under JKUSDIP include Construction of Sanitary landfill site at Achan, construction of two flyovers one each in Srinagar and Jammu, drainage schemes and construction of multi-level parking facilities in Jammu and Srinagar Cities.
The Chief Minister and Deputy Chief Minister highly appreciated the quality of works being executed by ERA and also issued directions to accelerate the pace of ongoing works and further directed ERA to identify more projects for the early processing of new loans with special emphasis on projects related to solid waste management in main cities of J&K State and other towns of tourist prominence, using latest technology.
The meeting was attended by Chief Secretary, Commissioner Secretary HUDD, Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, and Commissioner Secretary (R&B) Commissioner Secretary PHE besides the senior officers of ERA.
