Subject Nasir flags off 14 Water Tankers for Kashmir

Jammu April 26;-Minister of State for PHE, Tourism, H&UD and Revenue, Mr. Nasir Aslam Wani this morning flagged off 14 Water Tankers for Kashmir division at Narwal Jammu , to provide adequate drinking water supply to the people of Valley at the peak hours, particularly during summer. These 14 tankers have been procured by Economic Reconstruction Agency, J&K under ADB loan at a cost of Rs.1.38 crores, out of which, 10 Tankers for PHE Kashmir and 2 each for PHE Leh and Kargil, the Minister was informed. He was further told that these tankers are in addition to 5 tankers supplied earlier by ERA to PHE Kashmir. Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Nasir said that these additional water tankers would give relief to PHE Kashmir in maintaining drinking water supply to the water scarce areas of Srinagar and other parts of Kashmir Valley Expressing Satisfaction over the performance of ERA, the Minister said that the agency is playing greater role for the infrastructure development of the State, particularly in PHE and Urban Development Departments. He hoped that with the completion of ERA works, there will be a great relief in both the capital cities of the State regarding potable drinking water. He asked both ERA and PHE to work in close coordination for early completion of schemes. Director Urban ERA, Mr. O.P Dubey, Senior officers’ of ERA and Consultants were present during flag off ceremony.
